Abstract

Background: The application of innovative diagnostic technologies in dentistry and in orthodontics has been very interesting to observe. The use of Cone Beam computed tomography (CBCT) as one of the investigative procedure for the comprehensive orthodontic treatment especially in Canine impaction, Orthognathic surgeries, Airway obstructions, cleft lip and palate, temporomandibular disorders helps the clinician to diagnose a case with great accuracy. The purpose of this article is to provide a detailed overview of CBCT imaging, its technique, advantages, disadvantages and its clinical applications.
