Background: Surgical interventions in maxillofacial and oral regions elicit an immense inflammatory response, which leads to post-operative pain. Pain management following maxillofacial surgeries has been a challenge to surgeons for many years. Surgeons have used either opioids or non-opioids to control the post-operative pain. To overcome, this post-operative pain diclofenac transdermal patch (TP) was used in this study. Transdermal drug delivery systems always had the advantage of controlled drug delivery. They also ensure simple and painless procedures with better patient compliance. Materials and Methods: This study chooses diclofenac TP for post-operative analgesia in oral and maxillofacial surgeries. This study was done on 44 patients who have undergone oral and maxillofacial surgeries to access the efficacy of diclofenac TP for post-operative analgesia. Results: The results have shown that the diclofenac TP has been effective in providing analgesia postoperatively in maxillofacial surgeries. Conclusion: This study can be concluded that TP containing diclofenac diethylamine shows a good control of post-operative pain following oral and maxillofacial surgeries.
