Abstract

Background:  Why do certain smiles amongst us look beautiful while certain only average? All beautiful things in this world are having some specific design features that make them beautiful. The literature is full of articles that have elaborated in an excellent way the clinical steps of smile designing. This article reviews the building blocks of designing ,the elements and principles in designing smile, a thorough knowledge of which will change the outlook of treatment planning in the field of esthetics.
