Abstract

Background:  This study is to compare and evaluate the soft tissue changes in Jharkhand population. This study evaluates the soft tissue analysis according to the standard Holdaway’s norms in comparison to other populations. Material and Methods: The lateral cephalometric radiographs of 80 healthy individuals [40 males & 40 females] were retrieved. Soft tissue and skeletal features were traced on acetate sheets using the HOLDAWAYS soft tissue analysis craniographic methods. Result: The soft tissue profile of these subjects was found to be more protrusive when compared to the Caucasian subjects, as indicated by the highly significant increase in the H line angle soft tissue facial angle, nose prominence. Conclusion: The following results were apparent that Soft tissue pattern of the males of the Jharkhand population was found to be protrusive when compared to female adult, and adults have more protruded upper lip position and a more convex profile. Females have a thin upper lip and soft tissue chin thickness than males.
