Management of Mucocele: A Review

Abstract


Background:  Mucoceles are the most common benign soft tissue masses present in the oral cavity with a peak incidence between the first to third decade of life. Mucocele being a salivary gland disorder is most commonly seen in the lower lip. The mechanism of formation of mucocele may either be extravasation or retention. The management of the mucocele can be done with various methods ranging from conventional surgical excision of the lesion to the usage of LASERS. In this article, various treatment modalities have been reviewed and discussed.
