Background: Rehabilitation of patients with disabilities of the Head and Neck region due to either congenital or acquired face defect is challenging. Facial prosthesis restores normal anatomy and appearance, which protects tissues of defects, and provides excellent psychological benefit to the patient. Various maxillofacial prosthetic materials have been instrumental in the rehabilitation of these defects created by disease /trauma. Materials used for repair of such defects should fulfill the requirements such as function, longevity & esthetics. Maxillofacial prosthesis restores several types of orofacial defects and improves patient’s quality of life. The aim of this article is to provide insight into the currently used maxillofacial prosthetic materials.
