Background: This study seeks to evaluate the oral health awareness, and oral hygiene maintenance habits, of dental students. Materials and Methods: The present study included 180 students of GITAM Dental College and Hospital, Visakhapatnam- 30 students from each of the 4 years of BDS and also 30 interns and 30 post graduate students were selected randomly and divided into the 6 corresponding groups. Results: The IV year students in this study showed the least oral health awareness and the post graduate students demonstrated highest oral health awareness among the six groups. Conclusion: This study concluded that there may not be an improvement in the oral hygiene status of the dental students despite the increasing years of dental education.
