Abstract

Achieving a secure airway is a crucial factor for the operative management of trauma in the facial region. Nasal and oral routes are sometimes not attainable, as in certain cases, it becomes a necessity to establish intermaxillary fixation initially. The submental route is a potent alternative to conventional intubation or tracheostomy in certain cases of maxillofacial injuries. This technique has shown nominal complications, and it also comes with the perks of better acceptability by patients and surgeons. Although it requires expert skill, it is simple and fast to execute.
